Poetry by the Diné People

From the Diné Night Chant

Happily may I walk.
With beauty before me I walk.
With beauty behind me I walk.
With beauty below me I walk.
With beauty above me I walk
With beauty all around me I walk.
It is finished in beauty.
It is finished in beauty.

From a Diné story

Put your feet down with pollen.
Put your hands down with pollen.
Put your head down with pollen.
Then your feet are pollen;
your hands are pollen;
your body is pollen;
your mind is pollen;
your voice is pollen.
The trail is beautiful.
Be still.
